Worker's Obligations and Rights

 

YOUR OBLIGATIONS


These include:

 

  1. Getting and having a relevant work cover medical certificate
  2. Accepting referrals and treatment recommended by NTD.
  3. Arriving at appointments on time and traveling to specialists as requested by your NTD or agent
  4. Undertake the suitable duties that have been arranged and approved by your NTD, rehabilitation provider and employer
  5. Being examined by an “independent medical officer” referred to by the agent
  6. Attending rehabilitation provider appointments and engaging in activities organised by the rehabilitation service that are aimed at increasing your work capacity.
  7. Job searching when fit for work and when no further suitable duties are offered buy your preinjury employer
  8. Attend Work capacity assessments as requested by the Agent
  9. Speak to the agent and “being available” for communication regarding your injury situation and treatment. 



YOUR RIGHTS -


These include right to choose:



  • Your NTD
  • Treatment provider
  • Rehabilitation provider
  • Claim for necessary travel expenses to and from appointments you go made via your NTD or organised by the agent
  • Get medication and other treatments expenses reimbursed
  • Request assessment of your home or workplace to identify aids or support service that can assist you while you recover
  • Reasonable cost associated with retraining  -  i.e. courses, some mandatory equipment
